52 Project – Something New

This week our assignment was to do something new. Blue and I partnered up to put together a post with multiple new facets. He is modeling on the newest thing in our house, the carpet. I tried a new post processing technique to make his eyes pop and a final crazy, wild new change…the photos have rounded corners. You didn’t see that coming did you?

52 Project – Street Art

This week’s assignment is one that I have been looking forward to and planned on choosing myself if it didn’t come up soon – Street Art. Karen from Spotty Nose Pet Photography described the theme as including anything from graffiti art, street poster art, chalk art, and/or street installation/sculptures. I knew the perfect spot. I first saw the graffitied old car wash in Donelson while eating lunch at Phat Bites sometime last year. I knew I wanted to take Blue there sometime for photos, but the timing was never right. This week we made the timing right and I love how they turned out. Between the colors, designs and Blue’s modeling they are just what I hoped for when I first saw the spot. Hope you love them too!

52 Project – April Showers bring May Flowers

Since this week was in both April and May our photo group was tasked with photographing either April Showers or May Flowers. This past week has certainly presented opportunities to choose the showers, but I would rather keep myself, my camera and my dog dry, if possible. Ellie and I went out hoping to find the Iris Garden in bloom at Ellington Agricultural Center (since Blue looked so handsome in the garden last year for the Colors of Spring post). Alas, upon arrival it appeared that all the storms over the last couple weeks had blown the flowers away in the Iris Garden. We scouted the area and located a field with some wildflowers. Ellie was more interested in the construction workers nearby than in the photo shoot, but she is good at looking pretty even if it’s not in the direction of the camera.

52 Project – Hungry

This week we were tasked with showing hungry pets. Our house guest Mulder was up to the task and with no prior training played the part of hungry perfectly.

52 Project – Bloopers

Our task this week was to show some bloopers or outtakes from a photo session of our choosing. I had a fun session in Brentwood last weekend with three energetic Weimaraners and two fluffy kitties. Here are a few bloopers from that session starring Aster, Sky, Sasha and Chopper. My personal favorite is angry kitty.

Aster, in the top left, is very lucky to be in this great foster home and is currently up for adoption through Weimaraner Rescue of the South. 52 Project – Spotlight

For this weekly installment of the 52 Project Raleigh Pet Photographer, Tara Lynn, picked the theme spotlight and described it as using light to define the focus of your image. I had a relatively hard time deciding on a game plan for this assignment, but am quite happy with how the images turned out. The spotlight is on Ellie!

52 Project – Tryptych

The theme this first week of April is tryptych, which is defined by wikipedia as, ‘A photographic triptych is a common style used in modern commercial artwork. The photographs usually arranged with a plain border between them. The work may consist of separate images that are variants on a theme, or may be one larger image split into three.’ This week has been disgustingly rainy and gray in Nashville so Ellie and Blue tried to create their own fun with this assignment. Many thanks to my friend Ranae for Blue’s styling frog headband.

52 Project – Lines

The task at hand this week was to photograph lines. Any sort of lines you could find or imagine. I wanted to find my lines at a playground, but some spring weather finally made it to Middle Tennessee and all the playgrounds were jam packed with kids. I think my backup location at Ellington Agricultural Center worked out quite nicely. Check out Blue showing off his lines!

52 Project – Run

Running is the theme for this week’s blog circle. I decided to try my hand at panning where the subject is in focus and the background is blurred. I think I should have tried this with Ellie as she is a much slower subject. Blue had his first trip of the year to the Edwin Warner dog park this past weekend and he was excited. There is nothing Blue likes more than chasing tennis balls at the dog park. Here he is running at top speed to get and then return the tennis ball.

52 Project – Textures

The selected task for this week was to focus on texture. When I think of different textures I think of cats and the contrast of textures in their fur, eyes, ears and whiskers. I found some very cute kitty models and was pleased to see all their textures. Meet Amos, Bella and Rudy.
