The day for my first blog post on my new website. I am extremely happy to be here and glad you are joining me. This site and company idea have been brewing in my head for several years now. Sweet Silver Photography is simply my little piece of big business. Over the last few years the question ‘What would you do for a job if you could do anything at all?’ has been posed to me by others and myself. Consistently my answer was, ‘I like dogs and photography.’ I had a hard time wrapping my brain around the idea that these two loves could work together. It seemed too good to be true, but I stumbled upon Jamie Pflughoeft’s Cowbelly Pet Photography website and realized that not only had someone done it, they were a huge success. In June 2011 I attended a Cowbelly Workshop in Seattle and I haven’t felt the same since.
Slowly, but surely I have been working toward this day since June. This blog will be a place where you can see the pets and people I am working with as well as the pets and people in my day to day world that make this venture seem possible. Please say hello to my pets who have spent years acting as models. (They will be glad when your pets can take some of the heat off them.)
Ellie is our 7 year old Weimaraner who likes to eat, sleep and trick Blue into giving her toys. She is feisty and knows exactly what she wants. Whoever said dogs can’t tell time doesn’t know Ellie. She is serious about meal times and begins her precautionary warnings (which we lovingly refer to as drive-bys) about an hour before each meal. Our lives were forever changed the day we adopted her from Weimaraner Rescue of the South.
Blue is our 5 year old Weimaraner who loves tennis balls, running and looking innocent. He is always ready to go somewhere and do something. He uses his small stature and innocent face to convince us he never does anything wrong (which is not true). Blue has been a wild ride since we picked him up at 8 months old from Weimaraner Rescue of the South, but a ride that you just keep getting in line for even when it makes you a little bit dizzy.
Sit down, stay awhile and don’t forget some biscuits for your friends.
